Loussac Library Book Sales
Book sales are held twice yearly; in early May and November. Great prices on great finds! Support the library by donating books and by attending our sales.

Anchorage Public Library welcomes donations of like new materials. We cannot accept materials that are water-damaged, odorous or are contaminated with mold, dirt, mildew or insects because of health concerns and to ensure that materials are in the appropriate condition for resale or inclusion in the collection. The library does not accept the following materials: video cassettes (VHS), audio cassettes, magazines, text books, law books, encyclopedias, and condensed edtions. The sorting, submitting and listing (for receipt purposes) of accepted materials and any appraisal of value are the responsibility of the donor.

Donations of any size may be delivered to the loading dock at the Z.J. Loussac Library (facing Barrow Street, near the book drops) Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. (excluding holidays). Small donations (one box or less) may be delivered to any library circulation desk during open hours. Large donations should be coordinated with the library Branch Manager or delivered to the Loussac loading dock (during hours specified above).

Materials not added to the collection will be given to the Friends of the Library book sale, placed in the giveaway bins, or otherwise recycled. Donations with restrictions must be cleared through the Collection Management Coordinator in advance.

Friends of the Library

This non-profit advocacy group is dedicated to increasing awareness of the library through a variety of community events and fund raising activities. Click here to print a Friends of the Library membership form.

The Friends' Library Gift Shop, located at Loussac Library and run by volunteers, is a great source for unique cards, gifts and children's items.

Volunteer

Volunteers are very welcome. Volunteer jobs are available in a variety of locations such as assisting with children's programs and clerical work. Loussac Library has additional jobs including: assisting with book sales, recycling, Gift Shop, special events and other special projects. During the summer, students preparing to enter middle school or high school can participate in the Volunteen program (space is limited).
